Surprise Wolverine of the Week

As you know during football season we reserve the Wolverine of the Week to NFL stars and usually shift our focus to Basketball/Hockey players for this award after the NFL playoffs. We are going to have to put that practice to the side because of the play of a former Wolverine in the NHL demands it.

The NY Rangers’ Carl Hagelin was the NHL Compuware First Star of the Night last night after a 2-goal performance against his team’s heated rival the NY Islanders. As reported by @umichhockey “Hagelin has 9 points (6g, 3a) and is plus-11 in his first 16 games with the Rangers. That includes two shorthanded goals and one game winner.” The superb play by Hagelin has earned him Wolverine of the Week.

Honorable Mention:

Jeff Backus help lead the Lions to dominate the SD Chargers, 38-10,  to clinch an NFC wildcard spot and first playoff berth for the Lions since 1999. This will also be his first trip the the playoffs
