NFL Wolverine of The Week: “Delayed Edition”

Hi Michigan nation. Sorry for the delay this week in picking NFL Wolverine of the Week, I’ve been very busy. Regardless of the fact that week 14 has already begun, we still need to award a WOTW for week 13.

This was a very interesting week for former Wolverines in the NFL, with the 2 most impressive players this week both being O-lineman. Jake Long of the Dolphins and Jonathan Goodwin of the 49ers both played great games for their respective team. First off I would like to congratulate Goodwin on his 49ers clinching their division and thus their first playoff berth since 2002. But even with the 49ers 26-0 shutout and division clinch, Jake Long is still the NFL Wolverine of the Week. How could Long of the hard luck Dolphins earn this over Goodwin? Well its pretty simple 1. Long was a huge part in helping Mediocre Reggie Bush rush for 100 yards and TD; While Goodwin helped the much better Frank Gore to only 73 Yards and 0 TDs . 2. Jake Long and the Dolphins crushed a potential playoff team in the Raiders 34-14 while the 49ers crushed the injury ridden 2-10 Rams. Congrats to Long on the Dolphins for playing with passion and integrity even with their team out of contention.

Honorable Mentions

  • Tom Brady- Had another solid week torching the Winless Colts, completing  29 passes for 289 yards and 2 TDs.
  • David Harris- If the Jets want to make the playoffs every game is a must win at this point and Harris helped keep his Jets hopes alive again this week with 5 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss and 3 pass defends.
