The Football Fever: OSU’s Jaamal Berry Suspect in Alleged Assault

COLUMBUS — Ohio State University’s student publication, The Lantern, reports that Buckeye running back Jaamal Berry could be in some trouble with the law — again.

The Lantern cited a report from the Columbus Division of Police that states Berry is a suspect in an alleged assault that happened last Friday morning.

If true, this would be Berry’s second run in with the law in less than a month and another black eye for the already troubled Buckeye football program

OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith’s spoke with ABC6 Sports Director Clay Hall, saying if Berry is arrested, then he could be suspended.

According to The Lantern newspaper, Jaamal Berry was hospitalized Sept. 28 because of an “assault” near OSU’s campus. He’s since been released as of Friday.

A police report states that Berry got into some type of altercation with another person.  When police arrived Berry was on the ground visibly disoriented.

He was taken to The Ohio State University Medical Center’s emergency room and later released.
